Cafe Bliss: When desserts become a collection of fine art

Last year we had a Record Year for our business. 

We promised our staff that if we achieve what we aimed to achieve, we will take everyone out for a sumptuous dinner at Cafe Bliss to celebrate!

So here we were today...!

This is my starter - Crumbled Brie wrapped in Prosciutto.

I was tossing in between Eye Fillet and Red Emperor for my main.

In the end, I chose the latter.

All desserts have such long and fancy names. 

I can't remember what half of them were called.

Their presentations were impressive yet never all the same.

The chef's attention to details must not be questioned at all!

My delivery driver, Brett, likes chocolates.

I call his dessert The Dark Chocolates Pudding. 

The portion is massive! I wonder how he finished it all?

Below is Alex's dessert.

I think this is called Nutella panna cotta, stewed pear and spiced burnt ice cream.

Apparently this is the most popular dessert at this restaurant.

Now this is what I ordered. Strawberry Dream.

Creme brulee with strawberry toffee, macaroons, vanilla ice cream topped with floss and gardens of jujube and fresh strawberries. 

I had so much calories tonight I think I need to go to the gym before I am allowed to sleep.

Eventful December 皆大欢喜十二月

终于 December 了！

欢乐的佳节悄悄又来到我们的身边了！

十二月来临之前，‘绰号车神’ 的公司司机历年来第一次出车祸。

侥幸司机人无大碍，我的车尾却扁成个 pizza 一样，面目全非！

说我心不疼，怎么可能？

这就是我十一月的尾声。

随着十二月的来临，跟着过不久就是老爷奶奶的结婚纪念日。

我们一家四口找了个锯扒餐厅来庆祝。

说得也是，我们四个就只有男人一个是喜欢吃扒的。

那为什么每一个大日子都来锯扒餐厅点三文鱼吃呐？

（男人你感受得到爸爸妈妈和老婆我都很疼你吗？）

那一晚的家庭日后，我开始感受得到幸福快乐的 December 终于来了！

接着，就是一连串的圣诞节吃喝玩乐。

圣诞晚宴 Christmas Dinner

今年圣诞节，为了想答谢同事们的努力，我带了大家到这里挺有名的 Cafe Bliss 来庆祝！
我喜欢这家餐厅昏暗的灯光及不太吵的气氛，适合我们小人数平静用餐和交换礼物。

跟从前灯光耀眼的大派对相比，我比较享受及喜欢用这样和睦平静的方式来庆祝圣诞。

当晚每个人都有张单人照，我也不例外。

注意喔，每个人头顶上的皇冠，贴纸都是分开贴上的，

哪有人像我那么有创意，把所有 stickers 都贴在一起变成粒大宝石呐？^^

当晚大家点的菜色都不一样，选择包括了海鲜、牛扒、猪排、烤鸭，卖相跟味道不分上下。

前菜跟主菜的摆盘都很用心漂亮对吗？这叫人怎么舍不得吃呐？

这是我的主菜，跟我一样，是碟诱人的猪排！

Menu 上看三文鱼已经看不出奇了，出奇的反而是看到天那么漂亮的三文鱼摆盘。

欣赏厨师的用心，完全满足到顾客的视觉与味觉。

再滑下去就是更精致的甜品了，看了别流口水～！

这个是谁点的？快跟我交换！

那个叫人流连忘返的甜品 －－ 我的 Milles Feuilles！

我眼睛应该比我胃口大，才吃三分之一就吃不下了，太大份了咯！

我撑着个大肚皮，自己的甜品都已经吃不完了，还挖人家的来吃？

 

欢乐的 December 前半部还没结束喔～

跟着就是找我们的好朋友吃 salad buffet 去！

我们的朋友早在小西瓜出世前就已经认识很久了。
随着西瓜 Millie 的出世，我们四人行变得更多八卦话题聊。

小孩子果然是联系感情最佳的 Topic！

两个大男人齐齐逗一个小朋友。

 

虽然顾小孩我是没经验，不过我也好歹当过一阵子的幼稚园老师，耐心方面应该难不倒我！

西瓜 Millie 双脚好有力，实在难以抓稳来拍照，唉～

 

十二月的上半部就这样，下半部跟着是一连串的忙忙忙及更多的吃喝玩乐。

新加坡：陌生与熟悉的边界

新加坡，是一个我徘徊在 “陌生与熟悉” 之间的地方。

从机场乘搭的士到酒店的旅程中，我记得的士司机问我：“记得新加坡吗？”
我拍胸口跟他说我记得 ⋯⋯  其实也是为了不想让他故意绕道，偷偷加费。
事实是，我对新加坡的景点其实是真的一点印象都没有。

新加坡，在我八年前来到这里，跟我八年后再回到来这里，变了真多。
相信，Sentosa Island 应该不是新加坡唯一的观光景点了吧？
我也不记得，那时候曾来过 Marina Bay Sands 这个地方。

七月份，来到新加坡，我记得站在酒店房间望出窗外，
我悄悄跟男人说，我已经认不出新加坡了。
可是，这个地方却让我感觉一点都不陌生。
反而，让我有一种回到家的感觉，真矛盾 ～

在新加坡逛街，让我遇到很多服饰店的哥哥姐姐们。
大家都对我的烂中文感兴趣，还多教我几句中文字和发音。
比如说，$12.95, 中文怎么说？
我一直以为是十二块，九十五仙。
结果，它原来是，十二块，九毛半！

在新加坡，我除了学中文，也学会了亚洲人从早吃到晚但又吃不肥的精神。
很妙的是，为什么在新加坡和香港，怎么吃都吃不胖？
反而在澳洲连喝水都会肥啊？

我喜欢打边炉，因为新加坡的有 Laksa 口味的汤底！

相信我，我很厉害吃，Buffet Steamboat 却对不是问题。

新加坡朋友，都叫我们去旧巴杀那里找当地美食。

可是，男人他肚子很容易不舒服，所以我的 Roti 心愿就只好在 Paparich 圆满好了。

而且，在 Paparich 也让我偶然发现原来那里的海南鸡饭也很不错！

我们短旅新加坡的每一天，大部分吃的都是中日餐。

我也是在离开新加坡前的四个小时才吃到汉堡，我也是好奇新加坡的汉堡是怎么样的？

我喜欢它的份量不大，刚刚吃得饱，而且薯条细细长长比一般粗粗大大的好吃。

虽然一样是快餐，味道却跟澳洲的有大不同！

在新加坡，我找回了很多跟我背景像似的文化。

我相信，我很快又会回到这里了。

My very little big indulgence in Singapore!

Hello my Bumble Bees!

It is 11:33pm as I am writing this. I just finished compounding DHEA capsules not too long ago, just thought of jumping in for a quick update before bed.

I can't believe how quickly the year has gone by, our marriage has just turned one month old! Yea... one month doesn't sound too long for a lot of things to happen. We have even been to Singapore and back!

When we first got back from our holiday, I was very eager to share with you some of these superb high tea we had in Singapore. BUT my last couple of weeks had been so frantically busy I barely had time to speak with my own parents about our trip.

I can't believe prices have gone up so much in Singapore! 
Yet I didn't think it has stopped me from loving the country because of many other good reasons. With population stood at 5.xx millions, the myth of the country being one of the cleanest cities in the world surprisingly still holds true. The place is safe to walk about. Taxi drivers are friendly to chat with. Foods are tasty (as usual), and the service level is generally pretty decent at most outlets and restaurants (although not as impeccable as Hong Kong's).

I think the high tea experience at Raffles Hotel had been a big let down in this trip.
Service was poor very right from the beginning of our arrival. The hotel staff bluntly refused our entry through the main door (because we weren't their in-house guests) and insisted we must enter through the side door. Honestly I could not believe how unpleasant this felt as a first time visitor to a 5 star hotel.

I must admit the British colonial interior at Tiffin room (where the high tea area was) is quite appealing to the eyes. The classic high tea was served on a 3-tier cake stand. But the sweet and savoury selections were fairly basic and had nothing special worth remembering. The taste of the coffee and tea were quite average. Service, once again, was pretty disappointing (not attentive enough and we had to wait for 10-15 minutes for the table bill to come).  

My overall experience wasn't as seamlessly memorable as expected.

Raffles Hotel

The interior decor was worth noting. 

Tall ceilings and the big Georgian style windows are pleasant to look at.

While the experience at Raffles wasn't entirely a happy one, Anya from Ritz Carlton was very delighted to show us what high tea experience her hotel could offer in turn.

Alas, Raffles has no comparison at all.

Just the service alone, Ritz Carlton is miles ahead (attentive, professional and thoughtful). The quality and presentation of the cakes and sandwiches are absolute delight (dainty and colourful). And I really enjoy sipping my cup of afternoon tea, while sinking into the plush comfy chair, and listening to this beautiful piano music played at the background. 

By the way, your choice of gourmet tea or coffee is refillable too =)

Ritz Carlton Hotel

So... this is it. Our first and second high tea experiences in Singapore.

On my way back to Australia, I couldn't stop reminiscing the good time we had in Singapore. The service at Ritz Carlton. The cleanliness. The binge eating etc etc.

If only I have more than one lifetime to enjoy them...

五月 ♥

五月份。妈妈节 ♥

我们一家四口找了这间环境幽雅的 Cafe Bliss 来庆祝妈妈节。

出门当天，发生了一点小状况。
其实，当天，我早有提早放工的打算，原本是希望可以多花点时间打扮一下。
可是，就在我放工前最后那一刻，突然杀出一位很重要的客户！
就这样，我的工作时间延迟了半小时又再半小时，
最后拖到饭局前的20分钟我人才刚抵达家门口⋯⋯

于是，我就以这一身 ‘臭臭脏脏的打扮’ 出席当晚的饭局。
相反的，妈妈当晚真的很漂亮，一套黑薄纱性感上衣，再配上鲜艳色的口红，让她看起来更高贵迷人；而当晚坐在妈妈身边的老爷，则仍然还穿着今早上班的衬衫。
看来老爷跟我应该是同一组人马？不过这样也好，我们自少还可以互相安慰一下。

Cafe Bliss 的食物很好吃，前菜和甜品都很出色。

怎么样⋯⋯ ？我的甜品卖相很壮观是吧？^o^

五月份。秋季的尾声 ♣

最近天气真的很冷，食欲跟着大增，身体仿佛知道冬季要来了便自行添肥活动。

那天午餐吃了一大碗乌冬面（旁边还有一些天妇罗小菜之类的）
随后，我竟然还问男人：你还饿不饿啊，要不要我点盘寿司给你吃？

其实寿司是我想吃的，是我假假把罪名推给男人的⋯⋯

不过，冬季来了也好，因为我喜欢冷冷的天气，喜欢躲在被单里暖暖的感觉。
而且我也很喜欢出门可以穿毛衣、靴子、binnie 等等的，很暖很舒服 ～

五月份。友谊万岁 ❀

之前在日本餐馆认识的 Yui 桑从 Okinawa 邮寄来一套夏天和服 Yukata 给我⋯⋯ ？！

数个月前，记得我曾经跟她说过，我喜欢看日本女生穿和服的样子，因为我觉得日本女生穿这样都很 kawaii！那时候她就回我说，有机会的话，她会想送一套和服给我，这样咱们俩以后在日本就可以一起穿和服逛街了啦 ～

好想念 Yui 桑的阳光笑容 ～

其实，我会特别欣赏日本的传统服装。

那天在日本餐馆看到这个娃娃，我幽默地问男人：“ 结婚的时候你觉得我可以穿成这样吗？” 

男人：“ 好啊，那我的头需要剃半光（Samurai Style）来配合你吗？”

五月份。哥哥的新宝贝 ❣

我的哥哥和大嫂在这月尾快要添多一个宝宝了！真开心！
宝宝预期出世那一天，我人应该在墨尔本工作中，希望大嫂和宝宝出世一切顺利。

宝宝相信是个囡囡喔⋯⋯？

这是男人和我给囡囡准备的礼篮喔！

五月份。病人的厚爱 ☺

分享一下，最近一位病人老奶奶给我做的一个娃娃套 ～
它其实是一个用来装厕纸卷的套（像家里这种纸巾盒套有没有）
老奶奶的一番心意，难道是希望我每一天上厕所都能想起她么⋯⋯？

这手工艺品其实在我第一眼望下去就已经很喜欢了，因为那个手工真的很精致。
虽然后来我也舍不得把它拿去卫生室里用，反而最后变成了我拍照时候用的道具了。

好了，五月前半部暂时就这样了，希望剩余的五月份会更精彩！
